Body length would be about 8mm.

The closest I could come up with was a weevil thanks to Peter Chew's excellent site, Brisbane Insects.
Suggestions welcome, as usual.

Definitely a Weevil, but it seems unusually hairy.
Weevils have those antennae which come off the "rostrum" (snout).

I haven't seen them for a day or so. Maybe the Victorian ones grow a winter coat!!! :-)
